Jeff was the course director for my IDC, EFR and Nitrox Instructor course as well as my tri-mix gas blender course. Jeff is a great instuctor who always makes the courses interesting, fun and very informative. We always look forward to him coming to Beaufort. Jeff’s Cave Diver Propulsion course was first rate. Instructionally, it was was structured and taylored well to the speciality activity we were doing. The academics were to the point and covered all the salient points for DPV diving in the cave environment and the equipment we would be using. Jeff worked with Ed in the confined and open water sessions and Mark has done a good job of describing of how those sessiones were conducted. The course was challenging, but positive and constructive. There was never a time where I felt either intimidated or humiliated. Their control was excellent. We were given role model, real-time demonstrations of all skills themselves (many instructors don’t do this or delegate to others) prior to asking us to conduct the skills ourselves. The pace of the course was perfect. I was not rushed or belittled when I took a little longer to hit the water than they did. Dive briefings were organized clear and concise and if we (students) did not remember what to do during the dive, they would remind us. The skills were appropriate and we were not task loaded to excess. We were critiqued on how to improve, but we were also congratuated on things we did well. Cave Adventures did a super job with the logistics. Ed was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and his customer service was first rate. Ed is also an excellent cave diver with detailed knowledge of the sites used for training. It should be noted that Jeff’s familiarity with the sites is also excellent.

Finally, I want to say their love and passion for the sport, the activity (DPV diving) and the dive sites we used was great. It fired me up (I am a pretty low-keyed person), which takes quite a bit. They did an excellent job and represented IANDT well.

I just finished up an advanced cave DPV class this weekend in Florida with Jeff Loflin, who was my instructor. I just wanted to send you this e-mail to compliment your agency on this class. What I learned far exceeded what I had expected to learn when I first signed up for this class. First, let me say that this was the most thorough and intensive class that I have ever been in. I have been running DPVs in caves for a couple of years and thought I knew a lot about the subject. Come to find out, I was wrong. My instructor was able to make several corrections in my form that trememdously improved my technique on a DPV making me a much more efficient pilot.

I would also like to compliment my instructor who never let me take the easy route and made me practice each of the skills over and over until I could perform them almost on instinct. His knowledge of the subject matter and his abilities to comunicate this knowledge to his students is very impressive. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to improve their skills as a DPV diver.

Thanks for the great education and mentoring! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the courses I’ve taken with you (Tec Deep Diver, Technical Cave, Trimix and Tec Deep Instructor).
